There are always a variety of different ways to tell a story depending on where and when it takes place, who’s involved, the comfort level of those involved, the nature of the business or concept, and your budget. Here are a few styles we might recommend for your projects.

Narrated

Voortex Productions specializes in Cinematic Branding. Whether for a community, company or cause, there is a reason you do what you do. This narrated style of cinematic branding shares with the viewer what your brand is all about - your mission, vision and values. With a narrated piece, you have complete control of the message, the script that becomes the foundation of your video, so we recommend this style when you want a very polished feel, as every second is intentionally crafted.
We work with a variety of different voice actors to read your narration, or in some cases it makes the most sense for the voice to be someone from your organization. From the script and a wish list from you, we then create a visual shot list. Locations, characters, props, seasons, time of day, and scenes are determined and then we help you coordinate us capturing everything on the list, in a cinematic way.

Interview based Vignettes/ Documentaries

Another style of cinematic branding is documentary style. Certain stories are best told from the inside out, directly from the source. Documentary films, which we often call Interview based vignettes are a great way to capture an authentic tone that speaks to the heart of the character and organization. When the topic is close to the heart, or very well known by the interviewee, we might recommend an interview based video. The candid moments when people are talking honestly can be powerful and authentic. With this style, we can be opportunistic to get out there right away and start asking questions. After we’ve collected footage from all the identified characters, we review it in the editing room to find the red line between everyone’s responses, looking for common ground that we can build a narrative arc from.

This style can be accomplished in a simple or elaborate way. If time and/ or budget are tight, consider a Micro Vignette.

Musical Montage

Highly visual businesses can have a powerful message without letting words get in the way. Musical Montages are another form of cinematic branding that works great when the objective of your video is to convey a feeling. You’re still telling a story, rather than doing so through words, you take the viewer on a visual journey, or in some cases the lyrics to the music can help tell the story. This can be a great strategy to hook your viewers and, rather than giving away all the information in the video itself, it can let their curiosity take them to the next click - to your website or social media.

Short Films/ Music Videos

Sometimes the best way to share a vision is through a work of fiction. Short films and music videos can represent a more dynamic reality, tapping into themes and nuances of interpretation that other, more literal styles of films, cannot accomplish.

Process/ Makers

One of the most fascinating aspects to human behavior is our ability to solve problems and develop systems to enhance our experience. As filmmakers, we love process. The steps that build in sequence, leading to something that could have never come together without a human’s vision.

Tutorial

In this simple style we capture you teaching to the audience. We can pair the lesson with close ups of your hands or the subject for a closer look.

Food & Product

These can be ad-libbed or scripted, and all take place in our studio for high attention to detail around lighting, sound, props, makeup and styling.

Social Media Splash

Once we begin to build your library of footage, we can often pull from that to create 5-30 second sequences to engage your audience cost effectively, adding a lot of value to your brand.
